Easy Social Rides October 6 - Molonglo Meander
National Arboretum
09:00 – 11:00
Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Route
This is route this ride will take: Molongo Meander
Starting Point: Forest Drive/Barranjoey Drive carpark (aka bottom Arboretum car park off Forest Drive)
Proceed south along the C5 bike path over Scrivener Dam and turn off following the bike path towards Curtin.
Just prior to reaching Curtin we will turn onto the bike path that runs adjacent to Cotter Road and will continue on to Wright.
We will continue following the bike path to Stromlo Forest Park where we will take a break for coffee at the Handlebar cafe (10kms).
We will leave Stromlo Forest Park heading towards Combs. Leaving the park there will be a short section where will be riding on on-road bike lanes down Swallowtail Road. We will continue through Combs until we reach the bike path that runs adjacent to the Molonglo River. We will continue on the bike path around Combs and following the Molonglo River and then onto the C5 bike path. (There are a couple of short sections of on-road riding on quiet suburban rides).
We will proceed along the C5 bike path riding following the Molonglo River and then back to Scrivener dam and back to the National Rock Garden car park (21.5kms).
Almost all riding is on bike paths with several short on-road sections on on-road bike lanes and on quiet streets.

Easy Social Ride 30 June 2024 - Kaleen

Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Route
This is the route this ride will take:
Starting from the Kaleen oval near Gwydir Square, ride on the bike path towards Giralang then turn to join the Ellenborough St cycle path. Turn left off the Ellenborough St cycle path onto the Gungahlin cycle path before crossing Gungahlin Drive onto the cycle path along Gungaderra Creek stopping at the Forde Community Park Toilets. The ride will continue along the edge the cycle path around the edge of the Mulungarri grasslands (with café stop at Le Bon Melange) before crossing Gungahlin Drive onto the cycle path back to the Ellenborough St cycle path and back to our start point at the Kaleen oval. This a relatively hill free 20 Km ride.

Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Route
Starting point: Lake Tuggeranong Sea Scouts’ car park, Mortimer Lewis Drive, Greenway. This loop ride around Lake Tuggeranong through Greenway, down to Bonython, then skirting Monash, Gowrie and Oxley is about 22.5km with a coffee stop at the 20km mark, at Two Before Ten in Tuggeranong before returning to the start point.

This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Route
Starting point: opposite the Carillion bridge in Kings Park. Starting there & travelling to Jerrabomberra Wetlands, Kingston, & to NGA. Then turn left and through parallel to rose gardens. Cycle up to Parliament House & descend down the back path to Nara Peace park. Over Commonwealth bridge & past museum to cycle through the ANU. Up & over city hill & down Constitution Ave. Coffee stop at ‘Cat Bird’ cafe on Constitution Ave. then return to Carillion. Total trip 22km

Easy Social Ride 23 June 2024 - Tuggeranong

Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Starting point: Lake Tuggeranong Sea Scouts car park, Mortimer Lewis Drive, Greenway.
This ride heads north on the Lake Tuggeranong bike path to join the C4 bike path. We follow the C4 bike path south, skirting the Tuggeranong town centre, passing Bonython and down to the Lanyon Valley. We will turn off the C4 to ride through Gordon to Point Hut Pond. We will head around the dam side of Point Hut Pond and then follow the bike path to Tharwa Drive. We will follow the Tharwa Drive bike path to Lanyon shopping centre for coffee at Black and White Coffee. We will then head back towards Tuggeranong on the C4 bike path but will turn off in North Conder to return to Lake Tuggeranong and the starting point via Calwell and Isabella Plains. This ride is entirely on paved bike paths. 13kms to coffee and 21kms in total.

Easy Social Ride 16 June 2024 - Barton

Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Route
Starting point: Treasury car park off Langton Crescent, Barton (handy to bus stops if you’d like to take your bike on the bus to the start).
We will go through Parkes, passing the National Library and the Portrait Gallery, and quiet streets of Manuka, Barton and Griffith to Kingston Foreshores. Then we’ll ride beside the lake to try out the new pop-up separated cycle lane on our way to Lennox Gardens and Parliament House. We will stop for coffee at the National Archives Cafe and then return to the start. About 18km.

Easy Social Ride 16 June 2024 - Lyneham

Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Route
Starting point: Netball A.C.T Southwell Park carpark Northbourne Ave. Lyneham.
Leaving the netball courts carpark, the ride will head west to join up with the Kaleen bike path, following it through to the back of Giralang then crossing under Gundaroo Drive. The route will then join onto a wide on-road cycling lane for approx. 1km on the Barton Highway turning off at Hall for coffee. The return ride will follow bike paths along Clarrie Hermes and Horsepark Drives, turning right into Mapelton Ave, Harrison and then left onto Flemington Rd and back to Southwell Park. The ride will is mostly on cycle paths, noting the short stretch on the Barton Highway on-road cycling lane. The route is primarily flat to downhill with some initial, gentle climbing along the Barton Highway.

Easy Social Ride 9 June 2024 - Dickson

Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Route
Starting point: Dickson Library, Antill Street, Dickson.
The route leaves Dickson Library and rides through lower Downer to the netball courts, following along Moat St and under the Barton Highway along the Gungahlin Grasslands to Franklin then along the creek line to Franklin. It then weaves up to Throsby and along the Mulligans Flat fence line and back to Kenny before rolling past Mitchell, EPIC and into Upper Downer followed by the cafe stop at Gang Gang in Downer. This ride is mostly on cycle paths with a few hundred metres on quiet suburban roads. There’s a toilet stop after 45 mins at Wildbark Cafe and total ride approx 80 minutes.

Easy Social Ride 2 June 2024- Northside

Join us for this easy social ride.
Starting point: Dickson Library at 9 am, but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
Mostly on back roads and cycle paths, we travel up the Dickson cycle path and make our way to Duffy Street Ainslie. We travel right along Duffy and down Chisholm to War Memorial. Ride down Fairbairn Ave - right onto Northcott Drive. Ride over the rise and into Russell, down Constitution Ave and left at Canberra Olympic Pool over the foot bridge and down to the lake. Follow the cycle path around to new Acton foot bridge and to ANU. Coffee at Rex Espresso. Back to Dickson via Sullivan’s Creek cycle paths.
Total distance is 23 kms.

Join us for this easy social ride.
This ride starts at 9:00 am but we ask you to please arrive 15 minutes early for a prompt departure.
The ride witll start at the North Lyneham playing fields, Montford Street (behind the North Lyneham shops)
Route: (All on bike paths) Ellenborough St to the Barton Highway, Gungahlin Drive, through the middle of Palmerston, back to Gungahlin Drive near the Lakes Golf Club, around Gungahlin Pond and over the dam, Gundaroo Drive to the paths alongside the creek in Giralang and Kaleen, Ellenborough Street back to the start.
Distance: 21kms
Coffee: Hide and Seek Café, North Lyneham
